In the world of portable piping, it’s easy to get focused on the heavy-duty products we rely on every day. But behind every leak-proof connection are the smaller, often-overlooked parts that make it all work seamlessly. We’re talking about rubber gaskets and O-rings!
These small but mighty components are the unsung heroes that keep your portable piping set-up sealed tight and running smoothly so you don’t have to worry about costly leaks.
What types of rubber gaskets and O-rings do you need, and how often should they be replaced? We’re glad you asked!
Here’s a closer look:
Keep Flanged Fittings Watertight with Red Rubber Gaskets
If you’re using flanged fittings for a leak-proof connection, you also need the right rubber gasket to keep that seal secure.
At Wolf Creek, we offer red rubber gaskets in 4-, 6-, 8-, 10, 12-, and 18-inch sizes that fit our flanges perfectly. It’s important to replace these gaskets every time you disconnect the fitting. Reusing an old gasket can lead to a poor seal and leaks in the field, which can grind projects to a halt.

With the popularity of flanged fittings, we’ve doubled our inventory of red rubber gaskets to keep up with demand. Many customers order in bulk, because having extras on hand means fewer headaches in the field. If you’re ordering flanged fittings, we highly recommend stocking up on red rubber gaskets to ensure every connection is as secure as possible.

No Compromising: Genuine Bauer O-Rings
Just like gaskets, every time you disconnect a ball-and-socket fitting, you need to replace the O-ring to ensure a proper leak-proof connection.
Wolf Creek carries a large inventory of O-rings to fit Genuine Bauer connections and other brands of pipe fittings. We also carry Genuine Bauer O-rings for oil applications in 4- to 8-inch sizes, which can withstand temperatures ranging from -31 to 257 degrees Fahrenheit.

Important tip: If your O-ring does not say “HK Bauer” on it, it is not a true, Genuine Bauer O-ring. We’ve seen a growing number of generic and knock-off o-rings sneaking into the market, and they simply don’t fit properly or seal correctly on Bauer fittings. There’s just no substitute! When you order fittings from Wolf Creek, we’ll make sure you know exactly which O-rings to pair with your set-up.

One More Tip: Lubricate Your O-Rings!
While you’re swapping out O-rings, don’t forget to add a layer of biodegradable, non-toxic pipe lubricant/paste to protect your O-rings. We recommend Oatey Pipe Lubricant or Dawn dish detergent and water. Proper lubrication of your O-rings will also make connecting and disconnecting your fittings safer and easier!
