While both use the same high-quality materials and both use Genuine Bauer quick-connect fittings, the key difference lies in the shank design and how much pressure the fitting can withstand. The right type of hose fitting comes down to your specific application and how much pressure it requires.

Stock Bauer Hose Fittings: For Lower Pressure Suction-Only Applications
Bauer hose connector sets feature a three-bead, rolled barb shank that works well when clamped or banded in suction applications. While cost-effective, these fittings are not intended for use on high-pressurized discharge lines. It’s difficult to gain enough hose retention on simple rolled barbs, and there is the danger of the hose being pushed off a rolled shank barb when pressurized.
Because the shank walls are thinner, Bauer hose fittings should not be hydraulically crimped in the field to create stronger hose retention. Too much crimping force will collapse the rolled barb shank, guaranteeing failure under pressure.
For this reason, many of our customers dealing with high-pressure applications opt for our Wolf Creek Crimp Hose Fittings instead.
Wolf Creek Crimp Hose Fittings: For High-Pressure Suction & Discharge Applications
In high-pressure applications, there’s little room for error. Hydraulically crimping the fitting onto the hose is the most secure method to attach a fitting to hose, making it virtually impossible for the hose to detach under normal use. That’s why we developed our Wolf Creek Crimp hose fittings, featuring a machined barb shank with thicker walls to withstand crimping and a larger retention surface with many ridges to handle high-pressure discharge applications.
