Here at Wolf Creek Portable Piping Products, we specialize in providing the best quality pipe, pipe fittings, and hose connections for the toughest jobs. But we know our connections wouldn’t be complete without a leak-proof seal, and that requires dependable O-rings — or, for flange fittings, red rubber gaskets.

These support items are sometimes overlooked, but immensely important. In fact, we recommend changing out your O-rings after each project to maintain a secure seal. After all, a leak is the last thing you want on your job site!

Today, let’s take a closer look at the different O-ring products Wolf Creek offers:

Genuine Bauer O-rings

For the industry’s best fittings, true Genuine Bauer, there’s simply no substitute for Genuine Bauer O-rings. We carry a large inventory of Genuine Bauer O-rings ranging in size from 2 to 8 inches. We highly recommend buying Genuine Bauer O-rings in bulk to ensure you have stock on hand to replace used rings after each job application or project. This is a must for the safety and leak-proof integrity of the fitting!

Made from SBR (Styrene-butadiene), Genuine Bauer branded sealing rings are acceptable for most applications involving water, sewage, particles, and vegetable-based oils. They can handle temperatures ranging from -22 to 203 degrees Fahrenheit.

We also carry Genuine Bauer oil sealing rings made from NBR (Nitrile-butadiene), to be used if the material includes mineral oils. Due to their chemical composition, these oil O-rings can handle temperatures ranging from -31 to 257 degrees. Our customers in the fracking and oil refinery industries depend on these specialty oil O-rings to maintain their structural integrity and performance in rugged applications.

Larger, A-Type and B-Type O-rings

Need a larger O-ring for your non-Genuine Bauer A-type (Anfor) or “B-type” fittings? You’re in luck — we also carry O-rings in 10-inch and 12-inch sizes made for A-type and B-type fittings!

These water sealing rings are acceptable for most applications involving water, sewage, particles, and vegetable-based oils. As with all fittings, we still recommend replacing the O-rings after each job application to maintain a tight seal.

Keep in mind that A-type and B-type O-rings are not interchangeable. They are fitting-specific and using the wrong type of O-ring will make a difference in the performance of your fitting. If you’re not sure, look for a marking on the O-ring indicating if it’s A-type or B-type.

Red Rubber Gaskets

Flange fittings require a different type of sealing ring, our red rubber gaskets. We stock a large inventory of rubber flange gaskets in sizes from 4 inches up to 12 inches. These pair perfectly with our flange fittings for suction and discharge applications.

Red Rubber Gasket

The same rule of thumb applies to our red rubber flange gaskets — replace them every time you disconnect the fitting!

One Last Tip: Lubricate Your O-Rings!

We’d be remiss not to include one last piece of advice: lubricate your O-rings! Proper lubrication of your O-rings will make connecting and disconnecting your fittings safer and easier.

Bauer O-ring lubrication

Simply apply a protective layer of biodegradable, non-toxic pipe lubricant/paste (Oatey Pipe Lubricant or Dawn dish detergent and water) directly to the O-ring during the set-up of your portable piping project. Not only will this protect your O-rings throughout the job, but it can also help prevent hand and finger injuries during assembly and disassembly and provide an additional barrier against temperature fluctuations.

To make connecting and disconnecting your fittings even easier, check out our Warhammer Multi-Closing Tool. It works with both A-Type and B-Type fittings for the ultimate in convenience and versatility.
